HPLIP 3.13.11 Comes With Support For Debian 7.2 Wheezy

HPLIP 3.13.11 has been recently released a while ago. As you may know, HPLIP comes from HP Linux Imaging and Printing, the generical Linux drivers for the HP printers.

HPLIP 3.13.11 Comes With Support For Debian 7.2 Wheezy

Among others, HPLIP 3.13.11 comes with bugfixes, support for Debian 7.2 Wheezy, Debian 6.0.8 Squeeze and for the following printers (from the changelog):

  • HP Color LaserJet Pro MPF M176 series
  • HP Color LaserJet Pro MPF M176n
  • HP Color LaserJet Pro MPF M177 series
  • HP Color LaserJet Pro MPF M177fw
  • HP Color LaserJet Enterprise M750 Printer series

  • HP Color LaserJet Enterprise M750dn
  • HP Color LaserJet Enterprise M750xh

In this article I will show you how to install HPLIP 3.13.11 on the Linux systems that have official support for it:

  • OpenSUSE 13.1, OpenSUSE 12.3 and OpenSUSE 12.2
  • Fedora 19, Fedora 18 and Fedora 17
  • Ubuntu 13.10, Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail, Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx, Linux Mint 15 Olivia , Linux Mint 14 Nadia, Linux Mint 13 Maya, Elementary OS 0.2 Luna, Pear OS 8 and Pear OS 7.
  • Debian 7.2 Wheezy, KWheezy 1.3, KWheezy 1.2 and Debian 6.0.8 Squeeze

Because the HPLIP drivers come as a precompiled binary file, all you have to do is download the driver, set execution permissions and run the installer. Like this:

$ wget http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/hplip/hplip-3.13.11.run
$ sudo chmod +x hplip-3.13.11.run
$ ./hplip-3.13.11.run
